In order to explore the effects of fatigue, disease uncertainty, and family function on the symptom burden of immediate caregivers of patients with cerebral hemorrhage, and the interaction between these influencing factors. Methods:In this study, 278 immediate relatives of patients with cerebral hemorrhage were selected and their symptom burden was assessed with four scales. SPSS 21.0 software was used to analyze the data; Logistics regression analysis was conducted; AMOS program was used to construct the covariance structure model. Results: The relatives of 278 patients with cerebral hemorrhage presented 32 kinds of symptom burden and the highest score was sadness (0.49±0.56) . The main symptom burden was psychological symptoms (1.63±0.75) . There was a statistical significance between family economic annual income, physical condition of patient relatives, and sleep status and symptom burden(P<0.05). The symptom burden increased with the increase of fatigue and uncertainty (βstandardization = 0.326, P< 0.01; βstandardization=0.047, P<0.05) , and fatigue and symptom burden had positive effects (SEβ=0.732,P=0.022). The interaction between family function and disease uncertainty could reduce symptom burden (SEβ= -0.246, P=0.008) .Conclusion: Fatigue, disease uncertainty and poor family functioning can cause various symptoms to burden immediate family caregivers.Fatigue can increase the burden of symptoms on family members, but good family functioning can alleviate the uncertainty of illness and ultimately alleviate the burden of symptoms on family members. |
