Cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) is a syndrome of clinical, cognitive, imaging and pathological manifestations caused by intracranial small vessel disease, mainly involving cerebral arterioles, arterioles, capillaries and venules. White matter hyperintensities (WMH) is the main imaging marker of small cerebral vascular disease, which is characterized by punctate, patchy or fused high signal in the deep brain or around the ventricles. At present, in imaging, the disease characterized by multifocal small vessel lesions on brain magnetic resonance imaging is usually called small vessel white matter disease (SVD). Recent studies have found that SVD is closely related to the occurrence and development of dizziness, and this type of dizziness patients often suffer from cognitive impairment such as executive function and visuospatial orientation. Therefore, review the relevant literature to explore whether there is a correlation between the two symptoms of SVD dizziness and cognitive impairment, which will be elaborated from the following aspects.
